What is Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)?
EPA considers some leftover household products that can catch fire, react, or explode under certain circumstances, or that are corrosive or toxic as household hazardous waste.
Some examples might include:
- Motor oil/automotive fluids of all kinds
- Household and automobile batteries
- Oil-based paints, stains and solvents
- Household cleaners
- Drain openers
- Pesticides/insecticides
- Compressed gas tanks (propane/oxygen/helium)
- Aerosol cans
- Batteries
- Fluorescent/CFL light bulbs
