The Rules of Beer Pong - Teams Version
Equipment
- Two ping pong balls
- A Beer Pong table
- 20 Cups filled with water (10 on each side)
- 2 Cups for drinking beers (2 on each team's side)
Set Up:
- Ten (10) cups will be placed in a triangle formation (4,3,2,1) all touching each other and in the center of each team's side of the table. Fill each cup approximately 1/3 full of water.
- An additional cup at the end of each team's side of the table for the beer to be poured in.
Start of the Game:
Flip a coin and a player from each chooses heads or tails. The team that chooses correctly will begin first.
Playing the Game:
Beer pong is a drinking game in which players throw a ping pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in a cup of beer on the other end. The game consists of two players per side with 10 cups set up in a triangle formation on each side. Each player per team then takes turns attempting to shoot ping pong balls into the opponent's team cups. If a ball lands in a cup, the contents of that cup are consumed by the a player from the opposing team and the cup is removed from the table. The first team to eliminate all of the opponent's cups is the winner and moves on to the next round.
Game Mechanics:
- Keep your elbows behind the edges of the table. Elbows must stay behind the edge of the table when making a shot. The shot does not count if it was made with elbows beyond the outer edge of the table. If the shot is made with elbows over the table, then the ball must be returned, and the shot needs to be made again.
- A player may choose to bounce the ball once on the table before it lands in a cup
- Although the cups begin in a triangle, they don't necessarily stay that way. As there are more holes in the pyramid from removing cups, it gets more difficult to make shots. To account for this, a player can "re-rack" at certain numbers of remaining cups in order to keep a compact shape at which their opponents can shoot. The shooting player can choose how they want their cups arranged. Use them wisely.
- In the event that cups drift or are otherwise moved out of formation, those cups may be replaced in their appropriate positions upon request from the opposing team.
- A judge will be placed at each table to ensure participants follows all rules.
