Evaluating Telehealth Best Practices of an Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Program: Outcomes of Mixed Methods Study
The presentation will cover:
1. By the end of the session, the attendee will describe best practices for implementing telemental health to increase engagement in a group setting.
2. By the end of the session, the attendee will understand the results from one research study that evaluated telemental health services at an outpatient substance-use disorder organization.
3. By the end of the session, the attendee will identify the perceptions of connection and belonging for individuals enrolled in a telemental health group program at an outpatient substance-use disorder organization.
This presentation will review a completed mixed methods study that evaluated if one substance use disorder treatment program utilizes best practices when implementing telemental health services and encourages a sense of belonging and connection for its clients. Data were collected through focus groups, observations, and client and staff surveys. The results indicated that the organization primarily utilizes best practices, and the clients feel a sense of belonging within their treatment groups. Recommendations for ways to improve the organization’s practices will be discussed.
