Maximizing Prehabilitative Care Breast Cancer: Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement in Outpatient Therapy
The presentation will cover:
1. Gain an understanding of OTs role in breast cancer prehabilitation, what is being done and what can be done.
2. Discover useful tools that can help improve the quality and efficiency of care provided to patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
This presentation covers a OT doctoral capstone project on occupational therapy services for patients with breast cancer between diagnosis and surgery or adjuvant treatment. The presentation will look into the literature supporting OTs role in cancer rehabilitation, the benefits or "prehabilitation" for patients with breast cancer, and as well as some of the unmet needs of this patient population. Additionally, it will cover the methods, results, and outcomes of the quality improvement capstone project seeking to better understand the needs of therapists and patients and provide these therapists with tools to supplement their prehab evaluations.
