PLEASE READ:
Electric: Professional KCBS teams are guaranteed one 20amp plug for electricity. Additional plugs are available for a fee (20amp for $75 and 50amp for $100) and must be reserved in advance. You must provide at least a 50ft, appropriately rated electrical cord to plug in to the provided outlet.
Water: All KCBS teams will have water connections at their cook space as part of their registration fee. You must provide your own hose to connect. We strongly recommend at least a 100ft. hose and will not guarantee closer access. Backyard teams wanting to purchase water access may do so for $40 per water connection and you must provide your own hose to connect.
All cookers will have access to an onsite complimentary potable spigot to fill your tanks upon arrival and you may carry water as needed from designated spigots at no cost.
A grey water dump station will be available onsite upon your departure. Black water may not be dumped. Porta potties will also also be available all weekend for cook team use and an ash bin will be available upon your departure. Check the event map for the location.
Teams must attend the mandatory cooks meeting at 6pm on Friday night at the Judging Tent and participate in meat inspection. We recommend you arrive by 5pm on Friday to set up your cooking area.
Showers/Camping: The former national guard Armory located at 600 Stewart Street, will be available for overflow parking, self contained/dry camping, etc. The Armory has showers and bathrooms available during designated hours. A complimentary shuttle from the downtown to the armory will be provided for cook teams at 6am and 8:00am Saturday morning. Welch PD will be providing security all night for the event. Additional overflow car parking will be available at the parking garage in downtown Welch, located a couple of blocks from the cook sites. We strongly recommend parking your vehicle here if you plan to use it during the event, as you may otherwise end up blocked in.
All cookers are invited to coffee and doughnuts on Saturday morning from 6am to 8am at the Judging Tent.
Cooking spaces are 40ft long by approx. 20ft and level. Additional length is available by request at $25 per 10 ft of length. Cook teams will have a buffer of 10ft on each side of their spaces. The streets will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event. Spaces are assigned based upon your arrival time and upgraded electricity orders. Spaces may not be held for any other team so coordinate your arrival if needed. You can stage at the National Guard Armory to coordinate arrivals with other teams if needed.
Ice will be delivered to cooksites throughout the weekend for a small fee. You may preorder and pay for large bags of ice for $4 each that will be delivered between 6 and 7pm on Friday night. An ice cart will also come by throughout the event. Ice that is not pre-ordered will be available for $5 per bag delivered to your campsite. Cash will be required and small bills are appreciated for our ice volunteers.
Any professional team sharing a campsite with a backyard team will be subject to random inspections by independent KCBS personnel. Each team must have their own cooker.
