L'Arrière Scène BackStage
L'Arrière Scène Backstage supports singer-songwriters from New-Brunswick, aged 18 and over, through an four-month program (from September to April). The goal is to help participants strengthen and professionalize their artistic and entrepreneurial approach. This fully funded program is made possible thanks to Factor and The Government of New Brunswick.

L'Arrière Scène Backstage is a training and mentorship project for Canadian musical artists, managed by MusicNB and la Société Chant’Ouest. It’s goal is to support artists in their professional development by helping them build self-management and entrepreneurial skills. The program includes courses, personalized support, and covers topics such as artistic identity, career management, grant-writing, tour booking, copyright management and album marketing.
Selected singer-songwriters from New-Brunswick will participate in bi-weekly virtual sessions and benefit from guidance provided by music industry professionals, to help them reach their goals.
Pending available funding, artists may also have the opportunity to take part in networking events such as Music La Semaine Musique·Musique NB Week and Phoque OFF
General Eligibility Criteria
- Clause that applies to artists: the artist must be a member of Music·Musique NB.
- Be a musical artist over 18 years old at the time of application;
- Wants to develop career management skills in the music industry.
Specific Eligibility Conditions
- Be available for in-person events :
- MNB Week: October 23 to 26, 2025
- Phoque OFF: February 15-19, 2026
- Be willing to dedicate a minimum of 8 hours per week to the development of their professional career;
- Individual artists, or those who are members of a band and who are represented by an industry professional or recognized organisation (agent, manager, etc.( are not eligible;
- An artist that is not selected may be resubmitted for the next cohort;
- An artist or collective can only benefit from this program once.
Benefits
- Courses and mentorship are offered part-time and are virtual.
- Registration fees, travel, and accommodation costs related to in-person events will be covered by Music-Musique NB.
- Artists will receive a per diem while attending in-person events.
- Artists will be equipped with a multitude of documents, tools and templates that will be useful for many years.
- Artists will have exclusive access to self-management software tailored to their specific needs
Evaluation of Applications / Jury Composition
Eligible applications will be reviewed by a geographically-specific jury composed of music industry professionals. The jury’s decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
Program Outline
- One 2-hour virtual class every two weeks
- Individual mentorship sessions: virtual 1-hour meetings with mentor (schedule adapted to participants’ availability)
- Attending the above-mentioned industry events

The program starts in early january 2026 and ends in April 2026, but also allows artists from this pilot year to participate in MNB Week, which will take place in October 2025.
