    Please Read Before Completing Application:

    Work-Study awards cover the full cost of a single class and require a regular commitment of hours performing administrative, maintenance, or production tasks. Your ability to keep to that schedule is an important prerequisite.

    Scholarship awards provide partial support for a class enrollment.

    New students to the studio will be required to audition. New playwriting students will be asked to submit a sample of their work. 

    Key student positions are also available, per faculty recommendation,
    but are not covered by this application. 
    Please contact your instructor directly if you are interested in serving as a key for their class.

  • Work-Study Application 
    Studio Assistants (SA) are an important part of HB Studio. In this work study program, students will be eligible for a free class during the current term in exchange for help with administrative duties, maintenance, and other tasks around the studio. Work study students that require a second class are expected to enroll and pay for that class before they will be enrolled in their work study class. SAs are selected through this online submission process. Please remember that to be eligible for work study; you must be reliable, responsible, and committed during your time at HB Studio. Work study requires either 4 or 6 scheduled hours of work per week during the length of the current term (40 or 60 hours total).

  • Scholarship Application
    Scholarships support full or partial costs for enrolling in one class. Applicants may be asked to audition for consideration. If you are awarded a scholarship, you are required to register by the first day of the Fall 2024 Term, Monday August 1st, 2024. Failure to utilize your scholarship by this date may result in forfeiture.


    HB Studio Scholarships are awarded through consideration of both merit and need. Scholarships are given with the expectation that those supported will lead their fellows in attendance, preparation, and demonstration of full commitment to their work in class.

    NEW ACTING STUDENTS are REQUIRED to audition for Financial Aid, even if you plan to take Level 1 classes.

    For your audition, please prepare:

    - Two contrasting contemporary monologues, 3 minutes each
    - A brief a cappella song or portion of a song. (This is not a test of your singing ability, but of your range as a performer.)

    This audition is to get to know you and discuss your goals for studying at HB.

    You must notify us at least one day ahead of time if you are unable to make it to your audition.

    No-shows who fail to email auditions@hbstudio.org at least 24 hours in advance in order to reschedule or cancel the audition will not be allowed to apply or recieve financial aid the following term.
