Conditions of Volunteering
Conditions of volunteering:
1. I am 18 years of age or older and have read, understood and agreed to the terms below.
2. I agree to accept the pet in my temporary care when I am dog walking or a transport volunteer and if I have any concerns I will voice them prior to volunteering or at the time of volunteering.
3. I have inspected the pet at each time I care for him/her and agree to accept the pet in its current condition, health and behaviour. I have not relied upon any representation by Paws and Recover in deciding to volunteer to assist the pet.
Conditions of Care:
4. I agree to maintain and care for the pet in conditions explained to me by Paws and Recover. The pet will be cared for whilst I am undertaking my duties as a volunteer carer.
5. The information I have provided to Paws and Recover as to the care the pet is to receive and my ability to maintain the pet in proper health and safety is true and not misleading in any way.
IN-PREMISE ANIMAL FEEDING
6. When animal feeding, I agree to not remove a pet from its place of current residence without the express consent of Paws and Recover.
7. When I enter an area for feeding, such as an owner’s home, I agree to not enter the premises or proceed if the environment is unsafe for me to be in. I agree to immediately remove myself from danger and contact a Paws and Recover representative to inform them of such.
8. I agree to restrict taking persons into the premises of the animal/owner but can have a person accompany me for safety and assistance in feeding or caring for animals.
9. I agree not to fail to return the animal to its place of current residence or other agreed upon destination if it is removed for the purposes of volunteering, nor to pass the animal into the care of another person, without the express consent of Paws and Recover.
DOG WALKING
10. If dog walking, I agree to return the dog to the place of its residence at agreed upon time. I understand that Paws and Recover may before or during the volunteering period request the pet to be returned immediately and I agree that if requested to do so I will immediately do this at the place requested by Paws & Recover.
11. If dog walking, the dog will wear a collar with an identification tag attached.
12. I agree that all dogs who are instructed to wear a muzzle when dog walking must not have the muzzle removed during dog walking.
13. I agree that all dogs must remain on a lead unless specific permission is given to not do so.
14. I agree that all dogs will remain under my control.
TRANSPORT
15. I agree that when transporting a caged animal, they are to remain secure in a cage until securely inside a building with all doors/escape routes closed.
16. I agree that when transporting an animal I will not have the animal on my lap, nor in a situation where the animal prevents me from having proper control of the car.
17. I agree that I will only volunteer transport an animal under a valid licence and I am not prohibited from driving.
18. I agree that if I volunteer to have an animal transported in my vehicle, I release, indemnify and hold Paws and Recover from any claims arising from and/or related in any way to any Paws and Recover animal’s presence in my vehicle.
19. I agree that whilst transporting an animal, the animal must be securely restrained in the car, without any risk of jumping out of the vehicle. All animals are to be inside the cabin of a car at all times of transport. An animal will not be transported outside of a cabin of a car/truck.
ALL CARE
20. I agree to not contact the owner beyond the time of direct volunteering, without permission from Paws and Recover.
21. I agree to not remove any property from the animals premises unless it is directly required for the animal during volunteering.
22. I agree to return premise keys to the owner/representative when requested to do so.
23. I agree to not take any photos for personal use, or otherwise display any personal information of the owner/animal onto social media, without the express consent of Paws and Recover. All information relating to the animal and the owner is always to remain in strict confidence.
24. I agree to contact the Paws & Recover representative immediately if an animal is sick, injured or experiencing any difficulties, or if I have any concerns at all.
25. I agree I will not engage in any unsafe, illegal, or unethical activities or behaviours whilst volunteering with a Paws and Recover animal.
26. I agree that if I feel the pet is unsuitable for me to volunteer with, I have the right and responsibility to inform the Paws and Recover representative for assistance.
27. I understand that veterinary costs for any animal injury sustained whilst volunteering for the animal are covered by Paws and Recover.
28. I indemnify Paws and Recover, its directors, and volunteers for any liability, costs or expenses which arise as a result of my actions or omissions (including negligence) or the pet’s condition, health or behaviour and acknowledge that Paws and Recover is not liable or responsible for the pet after the time of return of the animal to the place of residence, or volunteering period cessation for the individual animal.
29. I have read, understood and agreed to the terms contained within the Paws and Recover Volunteer Care Agreement.
30. I will notify Paws and Recover within 7 days of any change to my details recorded above.
