    Waukegan to College is a college readiness program that works with students to help prepare them for college as young as 5th grade by providing them with academic advising, tutoring, math and reading enrichment, mentoring, workshops, field trips, summer camp opportunities, and college and scholarship application support.

  • Student Eligibility and Application Process 

    Candidates will have/be:

    • A student attending a Waukegan school – can be public or
      private.
    • A first-generation college student. First-generation meaning the parents of the student did not obtain a bachelor's degree from the United States in a traditional path or completed their higher education outside of the United States. 
    • A family committed to having the student attend a 4-year college/university.

    Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the candidate’s:

    • Academic merit and/or potential
    • Individual determination to succeed
    • Ability to overcome challenges
    • Motivation to complete challenging coursework
    • Family commitment to attaining college

    Application Procedures include: 

    • Student essays
    • Parent essays
    • Recommender information
    • Most recent grade report
