Clarence City Council - National Homelessness Week
Art Competition
Clarence City Council is calling all young artists who are Secondary School or College aged, and attend a school in Clarence municipality, to create an engaging artwork for National Homelessness Week, 5-11 August 2024, which responds to theme of: What does (youth) homelessness mean or look like to you?
The winning artist will be announced at Clarence City Council’s Off the Couch event on 7 August 2024 at Rosny Skate Park, and will receive a $500 Artery Gift certificate as a prize.
Artworks in the following visual art mediums are welcome:
Painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, illustration, textiles, or mixed media.
The winning artist will be supported to translate their artwork to a format for use on the promotional material for the ‘Off the Couch’ event in 2025. This would include web presence, printed material such as posters and signage around the community, and a banner that will be on display at the event.
You just need to be able to submit a few images of your artwork - and a brief response to what (youth) homelessness means or looks like to you.
Entries close: Monday 29 July at midnight

What is ‘Off the Couch’?
Off the Couch, now in its third year, is a free event to be held at Rosny Park. The event continues to place focus on housing insecurity for young people, with the 2021 census figures reaffirming that 25% of people experiencing homelessness in Tasmania are aged between 12-24 years old.
