  • The TGF (sponsored by Patricia Hill)-RPB Glaucoma Fellowship

  • The TGF (sponsored by Patricia Hill)-RPB Fellowship in Glaucoma is a one-year
    $10,000 supplemental fellowship targeted to women, and under-represented racial and ethnic minorities as defined by the NIH, who are fellows in Departments of Ophthalmology engaged in substantive glaucoma research.


    TGF/RPB will make five awards in December 2025.


    APPLICANTS


    Applicant must be a U. S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States who is a fellow in a U.S. Department of Ophthalmology with an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or other relevant degree, and who is engaged in substantive glaucoma research including investigation into the etiology, diagnosis, and/or treatment of glaucoma.


    Submissions must be received on or before September 15, 2025.


    Submissions are to include a CV and a personal statement regarding the applicant’s present and future research goals and the ways in which they will impact community and global needs in the future.


    Submissions must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the chair of the applicant’s Department.


    Submissions must be accompanied by a one-page statement, from the applicant’s preceptor, on the hypothesis, rationale, methods, etc. of the applicant’s research, to also include the preceptor’s role(s) in the Department of Ophthalmology and his/her NIH biosketch.


    RECIPIENTS


    Recipients will write letters of appreciation to TGF/Patricia Hill and to RPB on being granted the Fellowship and again at the end of the grant.

    Recipients will provide a year-end report to TGF/RPB to describe what was achieved.

    Recipients will meet with TGF/RPB at least once during the period of the grant to become acquainted with Ms. Hill and members of TGF/RPB.

    Recipients will participate in one project of TGF/RPB during the period of the grant. This might be an interview, a webinar, or a live event such as an educational seminar.

    Recipients will acknowledge The TGF (sponsored by Patricia Hill) RPB Glaucoma Fellowship in any presentations funded by the grant.

    All materials provided by the recipient may be distributed to the boards and constituents of TGF and RPB including but not limited to the organizations’ websites, newsletters, and annual reports.


    Awards will be announced in December 2025.

    I will write a letter of appreciation to TGF/RPB upon being notified that I have been granted the Fellowship. This letter will be sent in care of TGF to esturman@glaucomafoundation.org

    At the termination of the grant, I will write a letter of appreciation to TGF/RPB and outline the benefits afforded me by the grant. This letter will be sent in care of TGF to esturman@glaucomafoundation.org

    I will meet with representatives of TGF/RPB in New York at least once during the period of the grant.

    I will participate in one event or project of TGF, as directed by the President & CEO, during the period of the grant.

    I will acknowledge The TGF (sponsored by Patricia Hill)-RPB Glaucoma Fellowships in any of my presentations funded by the grant.

    I will submit a year-end report to TGF/RPB.
