Fair Oak Squash and Racketball Club are hosting a 6 week course for ladies over 18 to learn to play squash as part of the New Year Boost and 'This Girl Can' campaign.
When? - Every Tuesday 6pm to 7pm from January 13th to February 17th.
Where? - Fair Oak Squash and Racketball Club, Campbell Way, Fair Oak, Nr Eastleigh. SO50 7AX. Free parking on site.
What? - This is a fun based activity, hosted by FOS&RC and run by coaches to introduce the fabulous game of squash to any lady over 18 and who wants to start a new sport and get active. It may also appeal to any lady who played previously, but never developed it further.
How? - Over a 6 week period, each lesson will introduce the game gently and will be structured to start with the basics and will build up towards playing a proper game by the end of the course. We will start by using large boucier training balls which are easy to hit and progress towards a smaller traditional ball at the conclusion. The group will be small with a max of 4 ladies in each group. There is no exam or tests. It's vitually all practical and activity based input.
Why? - Females are under represented in many sports and squash is no exception. At Fair Oak we have a thriving ladies membership and we want to continue to introduce new ladies to the game. Encouraging those currently inactive into sport and exercise is a key objective for our club and Eastleigh Sportsworks.
Cost? - Only £28 for the whole course. This is half price for New Year Boost participants. FOS&RC are subsidising the discount.
Requirements? - You only need to be mobile and able to move around a court at a brisk walking pace or slow jog. You don't need to be particularly fit or an athlete. We just ask for a willingness to try your best and be able to have some fun! If you have any medical issues that you are concerned about, please speak to your medical practitioner before signing up.
What do I need? - You just need some lightweight activity/sports type clothing, which you won't get too hot in and some trainers which will not mark a wood floor. Most sports are non marking these days, however you can test them by dragging the edge of the sole across any hard floor to see if they leave a mark. All rackets, balls and eye protection if required, will be supplied.
How do I apply? - Just complete the below. We don't have many places so book early to secure it.
