"Bike & Roll" is a massive and expensive street re-design plan that deliberately impedes the use of private vehicles on streets while SFMTA faces epic deficits and threatened service cuts.
The Bike Coalition argues that this plan is “not ambitious enough” and that SFMTA should proceed despite community opposition. See Video Here.

The SFMTA Board will vote on approving this terrible plan that will drastically congest SF traffic even further at one of their upcoming February meetings, on either February 4th, or February 18th (they don’t release agendas very far in advance)

Message to Mayor Lurie, Board of Supervisors, SFMTA, cc: City Attorney:
Dear Mayor Lurie, Board of Supervisors, and SFMTA,

Please save our city from more irresponsible SFMTA actions (eg: Valencia St and Kirkham neckdown). SFMTA is facing a $320mil deficit next year but instead of improving MUNI to make this a world-class transit city they propose to spend untold millions of dollars on street redesign.

Almost 70% of San Francisco households own a car, and ALL residents deserve congestion free, safe, easy to navigate streets. 

The 250+ page Biking and Rolling Plan is unvetted, not transparent and devoid of any meaningful community outreach or input. Proposals in the draft deck were presented this year and many projects are planned within the next five years. The proposals are confusing, without valid reasoning, lacking in environmental impact studies and will have devastating impacts on recovering our economy and freedom of mobility for SF residents, visitors, and commuters.

To illustrate the need for more transparency and clarity, we direct you to the Biking and Rolling Plan (https://www.sfmta.com/media/41116/download?inline). Look at page 59 and focus on Chain of Lakes Drive and the Great Highway between Fulton and Lincoln: Is it, or isn’t it car-free? These plans should be publicized widely and discussed with voters PRIOR to implementation, and should reflect fiscal responsibility when MUNI service cuts are being threatened in the face of massive deficits at SFMTA. 

San Francisco's recovery requires City leaders to STOP doing ANYTHING that discourages tourism and access to our City. Access for all residents and tourists must continue unhindered for San Francisco to have any successful economic recovery.
