The SWLA Homeschool Athletic Club is a member of the Association of Christian Educators of Lousiana (ACEL Key ACEL Requirements from www.theacel.com are listed below:
1.1 The purpose of the ACEL is established to bring honor and glory to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, through athletic and academic competition, to protect the Christian bond of our member organizations, to promote pure, amateur athletic sports, and to foster Christian leadership and fellowship among our students.
8.2 Minimum varsity age restriction. A varsity student must be in at least the 7th grade and 12 years of age as of September 1 of the current academic year to participate in varsity athletics.
8.3 A student has four (4) consecutive calendar years of eligibility upon entering the 9th grade regardless of which school or homeschool he/she attended upon entering the 9th grade, given they meet the rest of the eligibility requirements listed herein.
8.8 All students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
8.18 Member-Member Transfers. Any student-athlete who transfers from one-member organization to another member organization shall be ineligible to participate for a period of one (1) year.
SWLA-HAC Requirements:
1) Any student who transfers from a public school, Christian/private school, or another homeschool team and is under disciplinaray action(s) must wait one (1) year before he/she is eligible to participate in any sport.
2) A list of all former schools attended including an updated transcript from the most recent school is required to be submitted with this application.
3) Parents and players must understand that this is competitive high school sports and not a recreation league. This means the ultimate goal is to win the game; therefore, some players may not get a chance to play every game or any game. The coach is not obligated to see that every player gets playing time.
4) Uniforms are the property of SWLA-HAC and are to be returned to the coach/team parent promptly after the last game of the sport season. A $25 uniform fee will be included in player fees for all sports to build funds for the purpose of future uniform purchases.The only exception to this, is if the coach (with board approval) has the athlete's purchase their own uniform. Such purchases will be paid directly to SWLA-HAC.
5) A phone or personal interview will be conducted to discuss requirements and to determine eligibility.
6) Please submit two letters of recommendations from either a family that is a current member of the SWLA Knights, your Pastor, a former Coach, etc.
The requirements listed above have been explained to me by the person signing below as Director of SWLA-HAC. I understand and agree to these questions and have answered all questions truthfully and accurately. I acknowledge receipt of the student handbook and hereby agree to adhere to all its policies and procedures, including but not limited to concussion training, codes of conduct, sudden cardiac arrest information, and the release of liability. Additionally, I confirm that I have read the bylaws in their entirety, understood them, and agree to be governed by these guidelines.I understand it is my responsibility to familiarize myself with the contents of the handbook and the bylaws, and to comply with their stipulations throughout my tenure as a member of the organiation.
