WelComingHome! Song Competition
    • All Grand Bahamian residents (including permanent residence status holders) with proof of address in Grand Bahama are welcome to participate.
    • Individual participants under age eighteen (18) prior to the song submission deadline require written consent from a parent or legal guardian. (A consent form is attached for ease of submission and is also available for collection from the competition portal or at the Ministry for Grand Bahama Customer Service Department).
    • The theme of the song is “My Island – My Home” and lyrics should celebrate the unique charm and characteristics of Grand Bahama Island.
      • For example, lyrics can directly include the island’s resilience, positive resurgence, landmarks and natural landscapes, monuments, heritage sites, history, settlements and communities, and other positive growth prospects and opportunities specific to the island.
    • Song must incorporate Bahamian musical and cultural elements that make them feel distinctly and instinctively Bahamian. While entries may draw from traditional styles such as Goombay, Folk, Rake n’ Scrape, and Junkanoo, submissions are not limited to these genres. Participants are encouraged to present any musical style or fusion once it clearly reflects the sound, spirit, rhythm, culture, and identity of The Bahamas.
    • Song lyrics may also speak to or directly include the phrase "WelComing Home.”
    • Songs must be bipartisan in nature. Lyrics should not promote, defame or disrespect any political party, representative or organization.
    • Song must be a minimum of three (3) minutes, but not exceed five (5) minutes. Song structure must contain at least one verse, one chorus, and a bridge.
    • Participants are eligible to submit up to two (2) entries. Each submission must be uploaded as a separate file to the competition portal.
    • Song submissions do not have to be professionally recorded or performed; however, each song must be clear and audible for radio airplay, with no background noise, so that the lyrics and performance can be fully appreciated.
    • Songs must be original and must not have been recorded or published prior to April 2026. By entering, participants affirm that the submitted song is entirely their own original work, that they have obtained any applicable licenses, and that it does not violate copyright laws or the intellectual property rights of others.
    • The submission deadline is 11:59PM on June 29th, 2026, and it will not be extended beyond the outlined date. Any submissions received thereafter will not be eligible for consideration.
    • After the top five (5) submissions are chosen, participants will be notified of their selection and submissions will be circulated on radio (stations to be identified at a later date).
    • After radio circulation, audience appeal will be considered in the selection of the overall top three (3).
    • Top three (3) participants will be expected to perform at the WelComing Home Grand Downtown Festival slated for Saturday, July 4th, 2026, where the placements and winners will be officially announced and awarded.
    • The top three songs - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners - may be used in future WelComing Home promotional campaigns.
