CLASS DESCRIPTION:
TAUGHT BY Brittney Johnson, Level 3 AKC FIT DOG Instructor
ABOUT THE COURSE: The AKC FIT DOG program, developed by the American Kennel Club and taught by AKC approved Fit Dog instructors, is designed for you to learn a safe way of introducing fitness into your training sessions with your dog. We want you to have fun with your dog and leave this class feeling comfortable about adding fitness into your dogs training.
During our six-week AKC Fit Dog course, you'll learn proper form and safety while doing various fitness exercises to improve your dog's balance, flexibility, stamina, and overall body fitness.
Once you have graduated with this level 1 class you can then choose to move into the AKC Fit Dog Level 2 course, our sport specific private fitness lessons or our offered drop-in fitness hours. (Coming 2025)

REQUIREMENTS:
PRE-REQS: Your dog should be familiar with puppy foundations or basic obedience skills. Dog and human students must know about training with treats using luring, capturing, and shaping and for the dog to be able to focus during class.
EQUIPMENT: Equipment is used heavily during class, it is important to have the right gear for safety and best outcomes. You can choose to include the Blue-9 KLIMB at checkout below. We will use the KLIMB in each class and it can be a usefull piece of equipment at home for practice as well. The class will teach you how to use the equipment in a variey of ways that you can continue your fitness exercises with your dog for years to come.
It is not required to purchase any equipement for class, we will go over suggustions that you can use at home for practice outside of class.
PLEASE NOTE: This class IS NOT for dogs in need of rehabilitation or physical therapy. Dogs recovering from recent injuries or in pain are not apporiate for this program. This class is for healthy dogs with no significant prior injuries.
Puppies under 18 months are allowed in class, but the focus will be exposing them to different surfaces and equipment rather than repetitive exercises.

CLASS RULES:
Potty your dogs outside prior to class and as needed during class. You are responsible for cleaning up any messes from your dog.
Your dog should be on a leash at all times.
Please keep distance from other dogs and do not let them engage in play.
