49th Katherine Prize — Terms and Conditions of Entry
This exhibition opens Friday 1st November and closes Friday 6th December 2024.
1. Entrants must be current residents of the Northern Territory.
2. A fee of $10 is required per entry.
3. Entries must be original artwork made by the entrant(s) and must have been completed during the 12 months, before 4th October 2024.
4. Entries must not have been exhibited previously in Katherine.
5. Artworks must relate to the Northern Territory, this can relate to materials, concept or subject matter.
6. Entries must not have won any art or other award within the Northern Territory.
7. Godinymayin reserves the right to consider, but not necessarily exhibit all works submitted.
8. Entrants may enter a maximum of two artworks for consideration, with no guarantee of selection in the 49th Katherine Prize exhibition. Works not displayed will be eligible for a refund of their entry fee.
9. Entries must be clearly marked with:
- Artwork Title
- Artist Name
- Medium
- Date of completion
- Sale price (inclusive of GST) if for sale.
10. Packaging must also be clearly marked with the artist’s name, artwork title and return postal address.
11. Entries do not have to be for sale.
12. Artwork sold by Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre during the 49th Katherine Prize exhibition, will be deducted a 27.5% commission.
13. By making a submission, you agree to have your artwork photographed and documented for promotional purposes.
14. Entry forms must be received by 5pm on Friday 4th October 2024 in order to be considered
15. Window for artwork delivery is between 14th and 18th of October 2024 during centre business hours. Work should be delivered to: Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre, Lot 3238, Stuart Highway, Katherine East NT 0850
16. The entrant shall be responsible for all freight and insurance costs (including organisation) for artworks to and from the centre.
17. Entries must be packed securely for transit and in a manner suitable for safe repacking. Any repacking cost incurred will be charged to the entrant.
18. Artworks will be covered by appropriate insurance while stored or displayed at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre.
19. All artwork(s) must be collected within 7 days of exhibition closure. Any uncollected artworks may be disposed of in accordance with the Northern Territory Disposal of Goods Act.
20. All decisions made by judges of the 49th Katherine Prize are final.
21. Any conflict arising in connection with these conditions of entry will be decided by Godinymayin, whose decision is final.
22. Artworks can be of any medium, and must be ready to display professionally in our galleries.
23. Artworks must not exceed 1.5 metres in any direction inclusive of support structures and frames. Hanging works must not exceed 15 kilograms. Artworks must not exceed 40 kilograms.
24. Entry fees will not be refunded (except in circumstance detailed in point 8)
25. Godinymayin staff and board members can enter but are ineligible to win major prizes, staff and board members are however, eligible to win People Choice Award.
