Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS)

This 7-question instrument is used to measure general relationship satisfaction. Its brevity increases its utility and research has shown that it is correlated with measures of love, marital satisfaction, sexual attitudes, self-disclosure, commitment, and investment in a relationship.

    Understanding Your Score

Your score of {satisfaction} indicates low relationship satisfaction (0-14).

    Scoring Breakdown

    High Satisfaction: Scores between 22 - 35

    Moderate Satisfaction: Scores between 15 - 21

    Low Satisfaction: Scores below 15

    What This Means:

    • You may be feeling deeply emotionally disconnected from your partner, which can create a painful sense of isolation even when you're together.

    • Persistent dissatisfaction may be signaling that important emotional or relational needs have gone unmet for some time, leaving you frustrated, discouraged, or even hopeless.

    • Low scores often point to ongoing struggles with trust, intimacy, or vulnerability—challenges that, if left unaddressed, can erode the foundation of the relationship.

    • Therapy can be a powerful step toward healing; with the right support, couples can better understand each other, navigate difficult patterns, and begin to reconnect in meaningful ways.

    Understanding Your Score

Your score of {satisfaction} indicates moderate relationship satisfaction (15-21).

    Scoring Breakdown

    High Satisfaction: Scores between 22 - 35

    Moderate Satisfaction: Scores between 15 - 21

    Low Satisfaction: Scores below 15

    What This Means:

    • You may find that while your relationship has some positive aspects, there are recurring patterns or unresolved issues that leave you feeling uncertain or unfulfilled.

    • Emotional connection might come and go, creating moments of closeness followed by stretches of distance or tension that feel hard to explain.

    • A sense of “settling” can emerge—where things function well enough on the surface, but deeper needs for intimacy, trust, or shared meaning aren’t fully met.

    • Therapy can help strengthen what's already working while addressing the areas that feel stuck, helping your relationship grow from stable to deeply satisfying.
