  • Recruitment Goals

Below is a list of ways you can engage with Wheaton College students during the 2024-2025 Academic Year. For each selection you make, you'll be presented with information on the next page. Please note, the CVC does not facilitate employers in classrooms.
  • Creating a Handshake Profile for your organization

  • The CVC utilizes Handshake for student and employer engagement. Students register for events, search for jobs, and set up appointments through this platform. In order to post jobs for our students, or to register for career fairs and events, you'll need to create a Handshake account.

To get started, please see these articles about how to set up your employer account and post a job or internship. Please let us know if you have any questions or need support with your posting by reaching out to cvc@wheaton.edu .

Once your account has been created, you can request access with Wheaton College to post jobs on our College specific Handshake page.

Handshake has policies in place to verify employers. We cannot circumvent those requirements. Please note, at current we do not approve employers with PO Box locations or personal residence locations.

  • Posting Jobs / Internships for Wheaton Students

  • As a first step, we would ask you to post your job / internship on the Handshake platform. Find instructions on posting requisitions here. The CVC will create tags within the Handshake platform for all employers we've communicated with during this academic year, highlighting them for students.

Additionally, we will send weekly emails to students who have opted-in. These emails will include a link to the Handshake job posting, and share your contact information as a main point of contact within the organization.

NOTE: The CVC is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and is in agreement with the NACE position that unpaid internships are a barrier to acheiving equity and opportunity for all students. To provide all participating internship students with equitable access to opportunities and career success, we advocate that all internships should be paid.

  • On-Campus Recruitment Table

  • The CVC has two recruitment table locations available on-campus throughout the academic year. We only allow one employer per day, and limit individual employers to two days per semester. Camps are limited to recruit on Fridays.

Our Lower Beamer Student Center recruitment table is in one of the highest traffic areas on campus. This is most ideal for most recruiters.

Additionally, we host a table in Billy Graham Hall. This table tends to be more aligned to the recruitment efforts of seminaries, counseling groups, and church recruitment.

  • Attend a Career Fair

  • For more details, follow the links below to the Handshake Career Fair pages:

    • October 29, 2024 - Fall Career Fair, all majors
    • February 13, 2025 - Spring Career Fair, all majors

Details on Church / Ministry fairs will be updated as soon as the details are finalized

  • Events Available for Wheaton Alumni

  • Additional On-Campus Engagements

  • When considering additional engagements with employers, the CVC considers the following:

    • Recruitment history at Wheaton College (both on-campus presence and recent hiring)
    • Alumni within the organization
    • Company size and reputation
    • Industry demand within the student body
    • Number of open positions
    • Organization location
    • Pay compared to average graduate's salary
    • Relationship to the broader college ecosystem
    • and more

There is a limited number of additional engagement opportunities available, and based on the above criteria, employers may be invited to participate in additional engagments or have introductions made to other departments and partners within the College.

  • Interview Week gives students tools and experience interviewing. The CVC will offer workshops and mock interviews throughout the week to equip students to best represent themselves.

In the past, we've had employers engage in the following ways:

    • Book interview rooms and interview for open positions in their organization
    • Utilize mock interviews as a means of training new managers in the art of interviewing
    • Lead workshops on interview best practices

If you or your team might be interested in participation, check the box above.

  • A few final recruitment notes:

    • We reserve the right to decline any employer from recruitment at our discretion. All approved employers are invited to participate on the Handshake platform, attend career fairs, and utilize our recruitment table.
    • The CVC does not provide access to classroom engagement. This is at the request of the Provost and Academic Deans.
    • There are alumni specific events that are open to all Wheaton College alumni. If your organization has Wheaton College Alumni, we would like to invite them to participate in alumni specific events.
    • We can provide high-level statistics about the Wheaton College student body upon request to help you with your recruitment strategy (e.g. size of the Business/Econ department).
    • Questions can be addressed to cvc.recruiting@wheaton.edu
