Fiber & Fabric art fascinates by taking art outside the frame. It is unique, dimensional, and tactile. This art exhibit focuses on Fiber and Fabric art, but is open to all mediums. The curators are seeking artwork that features Fiber and Fabric as a major component in construction and/or as part of the subject matter.
Consider traditional and non-traditional ways to manipulate Fiber and Fabric - for example: knitting, crocheting, amigurumi, felting, weaving, hand or machine stitching, art quilts, and more. Use only Fiber or Fabric to unleash and inspire your creativity, or as the focus in other mediums including photography, 2 D works, sculpture, and ceramics.
Larger pieces will be considered if displayed on an appropriate stand or rack provided by the artist. Due to space limitations, wall hung pieces larger than 30 x 36 inches must be approved by the curators in advance. Contact curators Liz Martinez at catniphaze@gmail.com and Robyn McGarry at robynmcgarry15@gmail.com.
The owner of Artistic Artifacts, Judy Gula, will be selecting artist awards plus there will be two (2) curator awards.
Fascinating Fiber, Alluring Fabric is open to all area artists; however, Del Ray Artisans members pay a lower entry fee. If you are not a member, you may join Del Ray Artisans now.
Entry to this exhibit is by online submission. Art may be two- or three-dimensional, and in any medium. If submitting a multi-piece 2D artwork (such as a diptych or triptych), all parts must be framed together into one piece unless cleared in advance with the curator. Art should be ready to hang or display with wire and screw eyes, mounting and/or display stand, framed, matted, or with edges finished. We cannot show work that is not ready for exhibition. If your artwork hanging system varies greatly from this example, contact the curators. See DelRayArtisans.org/exhibits/art-guidelines for additional details.
