  • Field Trip Policies and Procedures

    1. The education department requests that only registered students be brought on school field trips and chaperones refrain from bringing additional children not enrolled in the attending school due to the distraction/classroom management issues that come from additional siblings.
    2. For the safety of all field trip groups, field trip information (including arrival time, departure time, and schedule) will only be provided in advance of the field trip to individuals provided by the primary contact for the trip.
    3. All field trips must have a minimum ratio of 1 adult per 10 students to book a field trip. All trips will be allowed a maximum of 1 adult per 4 students for free. Any additional adults attending the field trip over the 1:4 maximum will be invoiced to the school at $10.00 per person. Please be aware that NO adult payments can be taken at the front desk and must be invoiced to the school to receive the group rate.
      • Any adult attending a field trip with a student (including their own child) and following the school's field trip schedule throughout the day will be counted towards the school's allowed ratio of adults (for crowd control purposes inside museum spaces)
    4. An educational program is only offered for groups of 10 or more students.
    5. If a lunch space is being provided, for ease of unloading lunch bags/water bottles should be combined into boxes/coolers. The Kentucky Derby Museum facilities staff will transport these containers to your lunch space upon arrival and storage during your trip.
    6. Due to the unpredictable nature of live animals, it is never guaranteed that students will see a live horse or horse race during their visit (although we do our best to accommodate)
