Each year, the Maricopa County Medical Society presents the Organizational Community Excellence Award that honors a nonprofit that demonstrates exceptional dedication, innovation, and impact in driving positive healthcare change and addressing pressing community needs. Their dedication to fostering trust, communication, and collaboration with providers and patients contributes to positive health outcomes and enhances the overall healthcare quality. The recipient of this award recognizes and demonstrates the invaluable partnership that medical associations make while working together to leverage each other's strengths and resources to achieve impactful outcomes.
Nominations will be accepted from May 1st through August 1st. Each candidate is carefully assessed to determine the degree to which they fulfills each of the requirements according to the criteria established. Announcements will be made on August 30, 2026.
The criteria for the Organizational Community Excellence Award are as follows:
1. Engages with the community through outreach initiatives, health education programs, and partnerships to address local health needs and promote wellness;
2. Creates value for medical professionals through volunteerism, resulting in improved outcomes for communities;
3. Demonstrates a commitment to advancing health equity and addressing social determinants of health, working to eliminate barriers to healthcare access and promote equitable healthcare delivery for all residents, particularly underserved and marginalized populations;
4. Inspires others through philanthropic leadership, generosity, and commitment to making a difference, serving as role models and catalysts for positive healthcare change;
5. Fosters collaboration and partnership with stakeholders, community members, medical associations, and other organizations to leverage resources, expertise, and collective impact.
