About Teri
I’ve been involved in creating all my life. As a teenager, I started my “official” art career as a studio assistant for an artist in my native Minnesota. Over the years I dabbled all types of arts and crafts but in 1990 I discovered Faux finishing. It was love at first stroke. I jumped in full force and quickly built a very successful decorative painting business. Over the course of 30+ years I was blessed to be involved in many prestigious projects throughout the United States.
As time, life and age caught up with me I started to focus on smaller things. I discovered a treasure trove of inspiration at the doggy day care I used for my sweet Maui girl. I started painting pet portraits. It didn’t take long to find my new obsession, trading one for another and jumping in full force again. The transition was natural as I already had a full studio set up. I reveled in all of the new mediums and styles and soaked up every bit of knowledge I could find. I still take workshops and classes as often as I can. My studio is set up with a wide variety of mediums to play with and lately I’ve ventured into oils and cold wax.
Alcohol inks became a favorite. The vivid colors and unpredictable nature intrigued me. I was determined to master the difficult to control medium. In the end my patience paid off and I begun teaching classes in alcohol inks. It is an unusual medium, that forced me to rethink my control issues, trust the process and and let the creativity flow.
