Badge Misuse Policy
It is the policy of the Metro Protection Agency (MPA) that all officers shall properly use and safeguard their badges and identification cards. Badges and identification cards are the property of the MPA and must not be used for any unauthorized purpose.
Authorized Uses
Badges and identification cards may only be used for the following authorized purposes:
* To identify the officer as a member of the MPA
* To gain access to restricted areas or facilities
* To conduct official business on behalf of the MPA
Prohibited Uses
Badges and identification cards shall not be used for any of the following prohibited purposes:
* To impersonate another person
* To gain unauthorized access to any area or facility
* To commit any crime or unlawful act
* To harass, intimidate, or threaten any person
* To solicit favors or engage in any other inappropriate conduct
Consequences of Misuse
Any officer who misuses their badge or identification card in violation of this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Misuse of badges or identification cards may also result in criminal charges being filed against the officer.
Responsibilities
All officers are responsible for understanding and complying with this policy. Officers must report any suspected misuse of badges or identification cards to their supervisor immediately.
Enforcement
This policy will be enforced by the MPA's Internal Affairs Division. Any officer who is found to have violated this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action.
