    Workshop Overview
In this dynamic one-day workshop, award-winning fine artist and instructor Steve Puttrich will guide you through the essential elements that transform a good plein air painting into a compelling, story-driven work of art. This hands-on class will focus on Design, Story, and Freshness—three key principles that elevate your paintings beyond simple representation to create meaningful and impactful works.

    What You’ll Learn
Design – Master composition through value, shape, and contrast. Learn to simplify complex scenes into bold, intentional designs that guide the viewer’s eye and create visual drama.

Story – Go beyond painting what you see—capture the feeling and atmosphere of a place. Discover techniques to weave narrative elements into your paintings, making them resonate with viewers.

Freshness – Avoid overworking! Learn to paint decisively with confident brushstrokes that maintain energy and spontaneity, allowing the landscape to speak through your work.

    Format: Demo + Hands-On

    • An introductory demo by Steve will show how to break down a scene with strong design principles.
    • Hands-on exercises in composition and value planning using quick studies to capture light and movement with contrast
    • Painting session with one-on-one feedback
    • Emphasis on storytelling and expressive mark-making
    • Group discussion and final reflections
