Description:
Plein air painting can be difficult because of the sheer quantity of visual information painters are challenged to interpret. How should a painting be planned and executed when the subject matter looks like nothing but a chaos of branches and leaves? Famous for her luscious "roadside mess" pastels, eminent pastel painter Lisa Stauffer will explain her approach using transparent watercolor underpaintings and layers of pigment that rely on a deep understanding of color as value. Lisa will guide painters through the process of choosing composition, fixing shadows, and seeing color for its relative value to create satisfying landscape paintings that bring an Artist's order to Nature's chaos.
Lisa demonstrates in watercolor and pastel, but this workshop applies across all mediums. Bring your own rig and paint along or just enjoy watching Lisa's demo and taking notes.
