Volunteers with RMHC Hospital Programs directly support our mission of Keeping Families Close through their service. Family Room Volunteers serve shifts independently during their shift as they staff the program space. Primary responsibilities include preparing coffee, handing out snacks / other amenities, restocking refreshment spaces, and signing in guests as they enter. You’re there to lend a listening ear and provide information to assist families whose children are hospitalized. Does this volunteer opportunity align with your interests?

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers are required to complete UK HealthCare's volunteer screening /onboarding process prior to serving in the RMHC Family Room. Following orientation, new volunteers must be able to complete the following (all at no cost to the volunteer)

Required Screenings:

1. Background check.

2. Drug screen.

3. Health screening at University Health Services:
- Tuberculosis(TB) blood test.
- Proof of immunization for MMR, Varicella, Tdap (through immunization records or antigen test).
- Annual flu shot (during flu season).

Volunteer Commitment

Due to the nature of this service opportunity and comprehensive onboarding process, we ask that volunteers can commit to serving two 3-hour shifts per month for at least 6 months.

We are currently scheduling interviews for the February 26th Volunteer Orientation

Interviews are 10 minutes and will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams February 17th - 19th. Please follow the link to schedule.
