Field Trip Request Form: Jones Valley Teaching Farm

Please complete the following information to request a field trip at Jones Valley Teaching Farm's Center for Food Education.
Submission of this form DOES NOT guarantee your reservation, but will hold your selected date until finalized. Our staff will reach out to confirm your booking or to suggest alternative dates or lesson themes if deemed neccessary. Please allow 2-3 business days to recieve a response.

Reservations must be made at least four weeks in advance.

About Our Field Trips

Price

Student: $10
Chaperone: $15
Teachers: Free

*All programs are free to Birmingham City Schools students due to generous support from BCS and public and private partners.

Payment can be made via credit card, check, or cash.

Capacity

Field trip experiences are limited to 40 students per time slot. If your group is larger, please book additional time slots to accommodate your group’s needs. You may submit this request form as many times as neccessary.

Field Trips are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 9:00am-11:00am or 12:00pm-2:00pm through February-May and September-November. Please let us know your preferred dates and times; a staff member will reach out to confirm availability.

Please reference our Programming Guide for lesson descriptions. Each farm field trip includes a small culinary component and each culinary field trip will have a farm component.
Only one curriculum option can be selected for each field trip. Please select which field trip curriculum range is most appropriate for the group.*

Accommodations and Additional Information
We strive to make our educational opportunities accessible to as many people as possible. Some farming and culinary instructional activities may include long periods of sitting, standing, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting, etc. All restrooms and building entrances at the Center for Food Education are ADA accessible; the farm fields are not. Accessibility varies across the Teaching Farms on school grounds. If you aren't sure if these activities are accessible, please let us know. Our instructors will work with you to identify different techniques and tools or to assign alternate tasks. We have staff trained to make experiences accessible to people of all physical abilities. We are KultureCity Sensory Inclusive certified and have sensory kits available upon request.

Pavilion Reservation

Your field trip reservation covers access to our teaching farm and culinary studio. If your students need to eat lunch on-site, you may request to reserve our pavilion for one (1) hour. Our staff will confirm our pavilion’s availability during the confirmation process. Please note that an additional fee of $25.00 will be added to your invoice to cover the use of this space.
