    Only students in grades 9-12 who wish to compete are eligible to fill out this form.

    2. This registration needs to be completed PRIOR TO EXPERIMENTATION.

    3. Please read through the Student Checklist and complete the Registration Roadmap here BEFORE you begin.

    4. All additional forms need to be downloaded and uploaded - the links to the forms are included in the Student Checklist or Registration Roadmap.     5. When your Regional STEM Fair ID number is identified through this registration, please be sure to SAVE IT and write it down somewhere on your project (i.e. on any visual you may present)! 

    6. Please be sure that you are spelling your name and information CORRECTLY! We use this information to produce any certificates or awards you might win! We are not liable for your misspellings.

    7. If you are part of a TEAM PROJECT - only ONE team member may fill out this form! Remember, teams may be made up of a maximum of three students. Duplicate registrations could lead to your disqualification from competition. There are questions within this form that will allow you to put your team member's information in. YOU WILL NEED: your team members' name(s), their email address(es), their school(s) and grade(s), their parent's name(s) and email address(es), and their home address(es). 

    8. You may NOT participate in a project with teammates who belong in a different division - i.e. high school projects must only include students in grade(s) 9, 10, 11 and/ or 12.

    9. If you are planning to enter into the Showcase Division, this is the WRONG form. Please exit this form and use the "Showcase Division" registration!

    10. If you are planning to enter the competition division, but you are NOT in grades 9-12, this is the WRONG form. Please exit this form and use "Middle School Competition Division Project Registration."

    11. If you are NOT in the following counties: Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Shasta, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba, you are NOT eligible to continue on to the California State Science Fair from the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair. Projects from outside counties are accepted only IF a Regeneron ISEF-affiliated fair is not available for them to participate in their area.   • Form 2: Qualified Scientist

    Must be completed and signed before the start of student experimentation. A Qualified Scientist is Qualified by either: having earned a doctoral/professional degree in a scientific discipline related to the student’s area of research AND/OR being an individual with extensive experience and expertise in the student’s area of research. They must be thoroughly familiar with the following regulations that govern the student’s area of research including all local, state, Federal and if applicable, non-U.S. national regulations and laws. They can also serve as the Adult Sponsor, if that person meets both sets of qualifications They may live elsewhere and not be local to the student, in which case, a Direct Supervisor must be appointed and trained to serve as the onsite supervision as necessary for the specific student project.

    Please read carefully, obtain proper signatures and return.  ALL participating students are required to return this form to participate in the 2025 Sacramento Regional STEM Fair.

    Rules of Conduct

    1. Scientific fraud and misconduct are not condoned at any level of research or competition. Such practices include plagiarism, forgery, use or presentation of other researcher’s work as one’s own and fabrication of data. Fraudulent projects will fail to qualify for the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair.
    2. The use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and/or drugs is prohibited.
    3. Respect and maintenance of event property is required at all times.
    4. Appropriate attire is expected.  
    5. Attendance is mandatory during student interviews and at any public exhibition of projects.*

    I have read and understand the above rules and agree to adhere to them to the best of my ability.  I understand that a consequence of failure to meet these standards may be that I will be sent home immediately, at my parents’ expense.

  • *Liability for Exhibits

    Every effort will be made to protect exhibits from loss or damage. However, since the exhibition of projects at the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair (Event) is open to the public, the Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair Foundation (dba NorCal STEM Education Foundation) cannot and will not accept any liability or responsibility of any nature for any theft, loss or damage to any exhibit or any other property of any Exhibitor. "Exhibitor" is defined as student participant, "exhibit" is defined as student project display. Accordingly, it is recommended that each Exhibitor take all prudent precautions to prevent any theft, loss or damage to his/her exhibit and/or other property. Each Exhibitor should secure and guard his/her exhibit and/or other property at all times during the Event, and remove all valuable components, especially those that are easily portable, when the exhibit and/or other property is left unguarded by the Exhibitor.

    I have read the above paragraph, and understand and accept the Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair Foundation cannot and will not accept any liability or responsibility for theft or damage to my exhibit.

  • Publicity

    Organizations and businesses sponsoring awards at the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair ("Event") may wish to publicize their involvement in the Event, which may include reports of achievements at the competition by using photographs or information about you.  We request your availability and cooperation when contacted, interviewed, photographed and videotaped by the media before, during and after the Event.  In addition, limited travel to local media outlets within the Sacramento Regional Science and Engineering Fair Foundation (dba NorCal STEM Education Foundation) region may be necessary to accommodate interview requests.  Advance notice will be given.  Your cooperation is requested for the full duration of the fair cycle beginning with your local school or district fair through the Event and after the Regeneron ISEF* (approximately 10 months).

     

    I also acknowledge that by participating in the Event, I consent to my name and image being used in promotional materials for future Events.

    Appropriate information about me may be used for publicity purposes.  This includes photographs submitted by me as well as any photographs, videos or likenesses that may be used by the Sacramento Regional Science and Engineering Fair Foundation or the sponsors of awards for the purposes of illustration, advertising or publication in any manner.  I also consent to the use of my name in connection therewith and agree that I will cooperate with regard to all publicity in connection therewith for the duration of the Fair cycle.

  • Participating Counties

    Only students competing from the following counties as designated by CSEF (https://csef.usc.edu/Fairs/350.html) are eligible to continue on to the California State Science Fair from the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair. Projects from outside counties are accepted only IF a Regeneron ISEF-affiliated fair* is not available for them to participate in their area.     By registering to compete in the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair while residing in an outside county, you acknowledge that you will not be able to move on to the California State Science Fair. You also agree not to compete in any other ISEF-affiliated fairs; competing in another ISEF-affiliated Fair during the same Fair year will immediately disqualify you from any awards at the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair.*  

     *The NorCal STEM Education Foundation has not yet affiliated with ISEF for the 2025 Fair, and may or not be able to for this year. The portion of this clause regarding disqualification for competing in another ISEF-affiliated Fair will only be effective if the 2025 Sacramento Regional STEM Fair is affiliated with ISEF for 2025. Information about affiliation with ISEF will be released as soon as possible.
