godz rising: an experimental queer + trans asian american visual arts newsletter is searching for ~*art*~ for our 5th issue! the theme is "homelands + ancestry": think scifi, honor generations past, dream of future coziness, and more
we are looking for visual arts, such as poetry, illustration, comics, collages, photos, interactive works like puzzles, and more! this newsletter aims to highlight creativity in all its forms, and encourage works that are imperfect -- a note that came to you on the train, a doodle you scribbled on the back of a receipt, a photo taken in a spontaneous moment.. whatever comes that you want to share! we hope these pieces generate ongoing conversations and movement between you and other (un)creatives beyond this newsletter issue.
the submission deadline will be rolling. We will begin reviews late September through early october with goal of releasing the issue for Undas/All Saints Day (Nov 1).
Qualifications:
- creative (and uncreative) queer + trans asian americans are invited to apply and submit work in any medium that can be reproduced in print (3D pieces may be submitted as a photo).
- theme is open to your interpretation. If you wish to submit work for a future issue, please note that in your submssion!
- we will NOT accept: works that promote racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc. AI submissions.
Details:
- each featured contributor will receive a free copy of the issue that contains their work.
- we have a limited number of stipends and can offer contributors $25 for works published in the newsletter. there is also an option to donate your piece.
- whether you are open to donating or receiving a stipend, this will not determine whether your piece will be featured or receive a stipend.
- each issue is printed in monochrome risograph; please check how your piece will appear in black and white before submitting. if your piece contains elements dependent on color (ex: flags), please describe it in your image description.
- there is no application fee!
