Disciplinary Policy & Procedures
- A critical incident includes any behavior that creates safety concerns for self or others, harmful and/or disruptive behaviors that impede other students, physical aggression that warrants adult staff to protect others or severe misuse of materials/tools
- One critical incident results in a one-day suspension and a phone call home discussing the behavior/return-to-care expectations, a second critical incident results in a three-day suspension with an in-person meeting to discuss behavior/return-to-care expectations, and a third critical incident results in expulsion from the program and an in-person meeting.
- Any use of racist/discriminatory language or profanity may result in disciplinary action including but not limited to suspension and or expulsion from CLC program.
- If a parent is called to come and pick up their child due to the child’s behavior, parents will need to come in and remove the child from the space and a parent conversation will be scheduled for a later time. This is to ensure the safety of everyone at CLC.
Health Exclusions:
- CLC will follow and comply to all LPS exclusion/health and safety policies
- Students may return when free of symptoms after more than 24 hours or with written statement/permission from a physician
- Students may be sent home if they have 100+ fever, undiagnosed rash/skin lesion, inflamed red eyes/drainage, frequent/persistent cough, infected/draining sores, have vomited, etc.
Mandatory Reporting:
- All CLC staff are mandated reporters are required to report any suspicion of abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities
Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct:
- A parent/guardian must meet a staff member at the door in order to pick up your child. Parents may wait at the SEM desk for their child. Parents are not permitted to wait inside the school with the exception of meeting with a member of CLC or LPS staff.
- If your child is walking home, you MUST notify CLC staff and have a written plan with a set time that your child will walk home every afternoon.
- No parent or adult is permitted to curse or use other inappropriate language on agency property at any time, whether in the presence of a child or not.
- No parent is allowed to threaten/intimidate staff.
