Open Kimono Publishing's Inaugural 2024-2025 Poetry Competition
Open Kimono Publishing is thrilled to announce its first poetry competition, aiming to uncover and celebrate new poetic talents.

Eligibility:

• Open to poets residing in the U.S. and Canada.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Submissions must be original and unpublished works, written in English.
• Poems must not be written with AI assistance.
• Poets must hold and retain all rights to their work.

Submission Guidelines:

• Each poet may submit only one poem.
• Poems should not exceed 40 lines.
• Entries must be submitted electronically in a Word or PDF document.
• Please do not add your name within the Word or PDF submission, poems should be anonymous.
• Submission fee: $20.

Judging Criteria:

• Originality and creativity
• Emotional impact
• Technical proficiency

Prizes:

• First Place: $500 and publication in a special anthology (guaranteed to be no less than $200 regardless of the number of valid entries received).*

• Second Place: $300 and publication in a special anthology.*

• Third Place: $200 and publication in a special anthology*

• Honorable Mentions: Publication in the anthology*

*The total prize amounts for Second Place and Third Place may adjust based on the number of valid entries received. The First Place prize of $200 is guaranteed regardless of entry numbers. Please see the Official Terms and Conditions for details.

Timeline:

• Submissions open: August 1, 2024.
• Deadline: May 31, 2025.
• Winners announced: July 31, 2025.
