LUJU Festival Profile

The Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival is an annual two-day regional showcase of culinary exploits, future-forward fashion, fine music, expert-led demos and wholesome entertainment. Luju attracts festivalgoers and activating partners from all over the Southern African region. With culinary showcases by celebrity chefs and high-end fashion designs inspired by the festival ethos, “A Return to the African Future”, the festival celebrates the sophistication and elegance of African vintage style, creative design and African delicacies. Luju consciously uses the festival platform to develop and promote the creative economy, sustainability and small-business growth through a series of workshops and demonstrations held before and during the festival.
Culinary Focus

The aim of the culinary program at LUJU is to stimulate product and service excellence within the Swazi culinary industry by facilitating interactive regional collaborations, capacity development and indigenous food advocacy opportunities amongst upcoming and expert culinary enthusiasts. It is also a platform to showcase and grow culinary businesses and brands. With a regional focus in mind, the culinary experience is enriched with specialized demos and workshops that bring to the fore collaborative pairings of tastes and textures. Each year, spaces are curated in partnership with local food entities and creatives to present an individualized aesthetic complimented by artisanal quality foods and drink.
Culinary Program

This year we explore food in intimate settings with a culinary indaba on Friday 2 August 2024, which is a unique opportunity for culinary industry influencers and food enthusiasts including restaurants, chefs association, chefs, relevant govt. ministries, health practitioners, retailers, suppliers, producers and farmers to name a few, to engage in meaningful conversations on investing in sustainable agriculture practices, strengthening local supply chains and advocating for indigenous food systems. By bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors, we aim to foster collaboration and innovation in the culinary industry. Saturday 3 August 2024 will have a chef led morning program on the Mastercard Stage comprising of a cook-off and specialised cooking demos.
Terms and Conditions

• Applicants must be 18 years and older.
• An Identity card will have to be produced on arrival
• Applicants should have interest and are involved in the culinary space
• Applicants must keep time
• Applicants must attend the culinary demo on Saturday
• Applicants are to stay for the whole duration of the Indaba Program on Friday and Saturday
