Description:
The province is introducing government funded Human Papillomavirus testing, replacing the Pap smear Test. The South West Regional Cancer Program is hosting a webinar dedicated to providing information regarding the upcoming changes to cervical screening. The education session will be provided by Dr. Rob DiCecco, Colposcopy Lead at the South West Regional Cancer Program, Dr. Paul Gill, Primary Care Lead at the South West Regional Cancer Program, and Dr. Nathan Roth, Colposcopy Lead at the Central East Regional Cancer Program.
Learning Objectives:
Incorporate HPV testing into practice
Demonstrate knowledge of referral process for colposcopy with HPV testing
Manage patients after discharge from colposcopy
Session Objectives:
Describe current cervical screening recommendations
Explain HPV infections & natural history of cervical cancer
Incorporate future state of HPV testing into practice
Describe referral pathways for cytology
Define colposcopist’s role in discharging patients back to primary care
Appropriately manage patients after being discharged from colposcopy
Apply cervical screening recommendations and follow up care through patient-based scenarios (case studies)
