Are you interested in becoming a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI)?

You are invited for two and a half days of education to prepare you to be successful in reaching your goal!

Join us for a comprehensive CTRI Prep Course at Renew Therapeutic Riding Center in Holland, Michigan to be held from August 26-28, 2024.

The course will include classroom discussion and lecture as well as hands-on practice for the areas of equine management, instruction, horsemanship, disabilities, and record-keeping. The learning objectives are focused to prepare participants to be successful in their journey towards becoming a PATH Intl CTRI.

The course is taught by Melissa Conner, Executive Director at Renew TRC, PATH Intl. CTRI, Advanced Instructor, Registered Level Lead Evaluator, Lead Site Visitor, Mentor, and past Chair of the PATH Intl. Riding Certification Subcommittee.  Additional instruction will be provided by the experienced CTRI staff members at Renew TRC.

• The course will take place at the following times: Day 1: 9-5 pm; Day 2: 8:30–5 pm, Day 3: 8:30am–12 noon.
• Day 1 and part of Day 2 are educational in the classroom and barn area in preparation for the CTRI exam.
• Day 2 and 3 consists of participants doing hands-on teaching to both riders with disabilities and able-bodied riders in preparation for the required video submission. Each participant will receive detailed feedback on their teaching. (This is not an opportunity to create your required video but is intended to be a learning session to prepare you for a successful videotaping at your own home. If you would like to prepare your official video for submission to PATH Intl at Renew, this must be scheduled outside of this course).
• The cost for the full course is $450. Checks can be made payable to Renew TRC. Full participants receive teaching opportunities, video preparation practice, and will receive detailed written feedback with a plan for improvement prior to testing.
• The cost to audit is $200. Auditors will not be assessed on teaching skills on Day 2 or 3 but can observe and participate in discussion.
• Participation is limited to 8 participants and 8 auditors.
• Lunch is provided on Day 1 and Day 2. Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the course.
