There are currently several significant grant programs intended to fund infrastructure projects to address the current broadband accessibility issues in rural areas.
Unfortunately, the managers for these programs were unaware of the significance of the commercial interests operating in rural areas when defining their qualification criteria. As a result, the most important element of our rural broadband accessibility gap is currently being overlooked.
This survey is funded by The Amarillo Area Foundation and conducted by The RANGE, a local member-supported Regional Accelerator for the Panhandle area. Its purpose is to identify and document the specific needs of commercial/industrial ag interests operating in rural areas.
We are reaching out to industry groups, commodity organizations, and academic institutions to assist us in distributing the survey to their members.
The information collected in this survey will be processed to create a summarized mapping of commercial broadband gaps (needs) in our area but no information specific to your business will be shared without your permission.
The insights gained from this study may be critical in determining how broadband infrastructure funding will be allocated across our region which will have a long-range impact on connectivity for our businesses.
