Please only answer these questions if you are seeking adoption of a dog. Our rescue utilizes a foster to adopt trial period. Foster-to-adopt placements are considered trial placements. The rescue retains ownership of the dog until adoption is finalized. Approval for foster-to-adopt does not guarantee adoption if concerns arise regarding safety, care, or compatibility.

Rescue Policies and Expectations

Financial Commitment
I understand that the adoption fee for a dog rescued from a euthanasia list is $150 for in-state adoptions and approximately $250–$350 for out-of-state adoptions. Dogs pulled directly from a shelter may have an adoption fee of up to $500 depending on medical care, boarding, transport, and other rescue-related expenses. Adoption fees help cover veterinary evaluation, vaccinations, flea and tick treatment, heartworm prevention, boarding, and other necessary care. Transportation fees are typically included unless otherwise specified.

Loving Paws of the South will make every effort to use the most reasonable means while still putting the pets health and safety as a top priority. Liability Waiver & Legal Disclosures
Hold Harmless Agreement I agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Loving Paws of the South Rescue, including its volunteers, fosters, transporters, board members, representatives, and affiliates, from any and all claims, damages, injuries, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from the care, handling, ownership, fostering, transportation, or interaction with a rescue animal.
Veterinary Care & Financial Responsibility for adopted animals: I understand that once adoption is finalized, I become fully financially responsible for all veterinary care, medications, emergencies, training, and related expenses. For foster animals: I understand that veterinary care and reimbursement must be approved in advance by the rescue unless it is a life-threatening emergency. Unauthorized expenses may not be reimbursed.
Bite, Injury, or Incident Reporting I agree to immediately notify the rescue of any bite, attack, injury, escape, illness, or behavioral concern involving the animal.
Return Policy I understand that if I am unable to keep or care for the animal for any reason, the animal must be returned directly to Loving Paws of the South Rescue. I may not rehome, surrender, transfer, sell, or give the animal to another individual, shelter, rescue, or organization without written permission from the rescue.
No Guarantees I understand that Loving Paws of the South Rescue cannot guarantee the animal’s breed, age, size, health status, temperament, behavior, training level, or compatibility with children, other animals, or specific living situations. We will provide you with a disposition overview of information provided by vet and/or shelter. In Colorado if a dog is adopted prior to spay/neuter, the adopter may choose any licensed veterinarian to provide the spay/neuter veterinary service.
Home Visit & Reference ConsentI authorize Loving Paws of the South Rescue to conduct reference checks and virtual or in-person home visits before and/or after placement of an animal.
Truthfulness Statement I certify that all information provided in this application is truthful and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that false, misleading, or omitted information may result in denial of the application, removal of the animal, or termination of foster/adoption approval.
By signing below, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions set forth by Loving Paws of the South Rescue: Assumption of Risk I understand that animals are unpredictable and may exhibit behaviors including, but not limited to, jumping, scratching, biting, escaping, property damage, or aggression. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with fostering, adopting, handling, transporting, or interacting with rescue animals.
