What is the Centre of the Year award?
This is an award that the Enchanté Network presents to a 2SLGBTQI+ organization affiliated with the network as a member organization that has demonstrated a positive community impact. It is presented at the Enchanté Network’s annual conference, Together for Change.
What is eligible community work?
We know that even what may be perceived as the smallest project can have a significant impact, so we do not want to limit the worth of the work by restricting nominations. We require that activities be verifiable in some way, either through an advertisement on social media or participant testimony. Activities must also be started, completed, or a major organizational focus for 2023-2024. Some examples of projects that would be prioritized for the award:
- A 2SLGBTQ+ newcomer conversation circle is launched and positively impacts its participants;
- A new trans health nurse is hired and starts supporting trans and gender-diverse patients;
- A cooking class series is run for Black 2SLGBTQ+ youth.
How do I submit a nomination?
Nominations can only be submitted by the completion of this form. Required questions are asterisked for your convenience.
Who can be nominated?
Any member organization of the Enchanté Network in good standing is eligible to be nominated. If you believe an organization should be on the list and isn’t there, please contact sam@enchantenetwork.ca.
Can I nominate my own organization?
No. We love individuals who want to support their colleagues, but consider giving your vote to another organization that you think deserves it.
What information is required to fill out the nomination form?
You must explain why the organization should be nominated, and how it represents the Enchanté Network’s values of intergenerational, indigenization, adaptable, and equitable, and explain how the nominee works to achieve this year’s conference theme of radically safe futures.
When is the deadline for the nomination form?
August 22, 2024, at 11:59 PM EST
How will the nominees be evaluated?
We have created a rubric based on how closely each nominee aligns with the Enchanté Network’s mandate and the theme of this year’s conference (Radically Safe Futures). We will also prioritize organizations that offer programming for BIPOC people, disabled people, rural communities, trans and gender-diverse people, and newcomers/refugees. Nominees will not be chosen solely based on the number of nominations they receive.
Who is allowed to make a nomination?
Anyone can make a nomination! Even if you are not a member of the Enchanté Network or don’t work for a non-profit or charitable organization, we want to hear from you. We highly encourage actual program participants to nominate their organization as someone who has benefited from that service.
When will the winner be announced?
The winner will be announced at the annual 2SLGBTQ+ Together for Change: Radically Safe Futures Conference, which will be held on September 19 - 21, 2024 at the Eau Claire Sheraton Suites in Calgary, Alberta.
Who can I contact if I have questions about the nomination process?
