Hillsboro MB Church Guidelines for Tabor Student
Purpose: Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church (HMBC) seeks to provide encouragement for members to seek formal Christ-centered education.
- Promote Christian higher education through enrollment at Tabor College.
- Provide church scholarships to assist students with their tuition cost.
Scholarships: Applicant eligibility, scholarship recipients and the amount of the scholarship will be determined by the HMBC Stewardship Board each year. The source of funds for scholarships will be a line item in the annual Church budget. Funds may be raised through church offerings and individual designated giving. Funds that are designated for HMBC students attending Tabor College will be divided equally, without prejudice, among all applicants enrolled at the time of the designated gift.
- A scholarship may be granted up to a maximum amount of $350 per student per academic semester and limited to 8 semesters for each student.
- The scholarship is available to Members or children of members of Hillsboro M.B. Church who are enrolled at Tabor College as full-time students.
- The scholarship will be matched by Tabor College.
- Upon receipt of the application, the church treasurer shall forward scholarship money to Tabor College in a timely manner for students to receive matching scholarships provided by the institution.
- It is understood that the scholarships are regulated by government need assessment policies and are not designed to displace financial aid funds already awarded, or to replace the amount that parents are expected or able to contribute to their children's education.
- In special cases where the congregation's aid would only replace assistance already available from government grants, the college will notify the congregations and the student SO that their aid may be reduced or withheld, or channeled to other eligible students.
