    Before you get started, make sure you have:

    • presentation main contact information
    • a description of the content you intend to cover
    • key concepts you would like attendees to leave the presentation with (key take-aways or learning objectives)
    • a short personal bio for each presenter on your team that will facilitate this content
    • and presentation team’s calendar availability

    Review and understand these expecations: 

    • Conference theme and learning focus list
    • Public Records Act of Washington State (RCW 42.56)
    • Aaccessibility requirements and how these will impact your presentation prep.

    The Washington Employee DEI Empowerment Conference Coordinators have surveyed employees across the enterprise to identify areas we would like to focus on improving our knowledge or skill. Our most successful presentations will find intersections with the 2025 theme of "Creating Equitable Access, Improving Accessibility, & Achieving Inclusive Usability" and the general list of focus areas below.     Your session abstract will help conference coordinators understand what will be addressed in your presentation as well as tell conference attendees why they should attend your session. To be effective and create interest, it should provide a brief, clear, and concise reflection of your presentation’s content and describe how your proposed presentation addresses the focus areas you chose in the previous question. Our most successful presentations also describe how they will incorporate understanding of the "why" as well as the "what" and "how". To peak interest, they also include a high-level description of the audience engagement tools your presentation will employ, for instance polls, video, etc. The abstract should be no more than 250 words in length.

Please make sure to accommodate for any extra time you may need to make sure your materials are ADA accessible and for completing the necessary vendor registration forms to ensure easy payment from the State of Washington.
