Before progressing any further, we should advise that your project profile does not traditionally lend itself well to a ground source heat pump. As you have told us you are in an on gas area and your main motivation is to save money, a ground source heat pump would likely cost more to run in comparison to a gas central heating system. Although ground source heat pumps can be up to x4 as efficient as a gas combi boiler when running at optimum performance, the price of electricity is currently around x4 the price of gas.

The client’s preferred plumber: - Designs, supplies and installs the heat distribution system separately. - This scenario is particularly appropriate for new build developments. 3) Shared project management: Groundworks & design Kensa Contracting takes responsibility for: - Design, supply & installation of the ground arrays; - Design & supply of the ground source heat pumps; - Design support with the heat distribution system. The client’s preferred plumber undertakes: - The installation of the ground source heat pumps; - The installation of the heat distribution system. - The house builder typically contracts directly with the plumber for these services with full design and installation support coming from Kensa, and MCS accreditation provided either by the MCS accredited installer or Kensa’s MCS Umbrella scheme and commissioning service. - This scenario is particularly appropriate for new build developments.
