SMART RISE Cookbook: Recipes that Represent Us Cooking SMART: Tools to the Table
Send us your favorite recipe, a story of why, and a photo of the dish.
Intro
SMART’s newly formed RISE Committee (Representation, Integrity, Support, Empowerment) is working to create the union’s first-ever cookbook. We’re calling the publication Cooking SMART: From Tools to the Table. The purpose of Cooking SMART is to support union solidarity and highlight the ways that food can be used as a tool for bringing members together and strengthening our union. The RISE Committee is collecting recipes from SMART members that reflect your background, traditions or the way your local celebrates. Whether it’s a cultural dish, a holiday favorite or something you serve at union gatherings — we want to feature it! When the project is complete, digital copies of the cookbook will be shared with the broader membership. To help with this effort, we are asking members to submit four items: 1 – Recipe(s) -- Your favorite family recipe or something that your local prepares for events (in writing). 2 – A statement/testimonial -- A few words (2 to 3 sentences) about what the dish or food item means to you and/or your family or local. 3 – Photo -- A photo of the dish and/or the friends, family or members you celebrate with. 4 – Examples or stories (in a few sentences) of how your local uses barbecues -- or other events that involve food -- to build union solidarity.
