South Georgia Conference 2024-2025
Want to become a Certified Lay Minister in the Global Methodist Church? Our South Georgia Conference requires a total of Five Courses to become a CLM, and some of these courses may be omitted if you have previous certifications from another denomination (if you fall in this category please contact amcphail@valdostafmc.org to find out how many courses you need to take). For those needing all five courses, the Foundational and Bible Courses are required, and then participants may choose any three of the Specialized Courses to complete their training requirements.

Also please note that completing this form will put you on our roster for CLM training, but we need two things before your registration will be finalized: 1) written endorsement from your pastor or presiding elder sent to Rev. Dr. Anthony McPhail at amcphail@valdostafmc.org, and 2) registration fee ($300 for the full training or $60/course) sent to (please note CLM registration on the memo line):

There are two basic paths for meeting the course requirements: 1) You may take all of your course requirements as a part of an in person Immersion Weekend in January where we will offer Foundational, Bible, and three of the Specialized Courses (Preaching, Worship, and Leadership/Administration); OR 2) You may take the courses individually with Foundational and Bible Courses being offered online in the Spring of 2025, and then take the Specialized Courses that you need on select Saturdays throughout the year. If you follow the second path, you also are welcome to attend select courses during the Immersion Weekend to go towards your course tally.

The In Person Immersion Weekend will be Thursday, January 30th through Sunday, February 2nd at Valdosta First Methodist Church. In case you wish to take individual courses that weekend, the schedule is as follows:
- Foundational - Thursday 1pm-8pm
- Basic Bible - Friday 8am-3pm
- Leadership/Administration - Friday 4pm-8pm and Saturday 8am-11am
- Preaching - Saturday 12pm-7pm
- Worship - Sunday 8am-3pm
Individual Courses will be offered at the following times:
- Spring 2025 Online Foundational and Bible Courses will meet from 7pm - 9pm on the following Mondays: January 27th, February 17th, March 3rd, March 10th, March 24th, and April 7th
- Spiritual Formation - Saturday, March 1st 10am-6pm (ONLINE)
- Worship - Saturday, March 22nd 10am-6pm (Kathleen, GA)
- Missions and Service - Saturday, April 12th 10am-6pm (Dublin, GA)
Other than Immersion Weekend courses, all other in person courses will be offered somewhere centrally located in the state (e.g. Macon, Dublin, Warner Robins, etc)
