Join Billy Matsunaga's Kimono Workshop at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i on Sunday, September 22nd from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Billy is a professional kimono teacher and stylist based in Japan with a strong social media following on YouTube (@BillyMatsunaga 29K) and Instagram (@biriinyan 33K).
This workshop day will be split into 2 sessions. In the first session you will learn how to dress yourself in juban (襦袢, kimono undergarment) and how to put the kimono on top of the juban. No matter if you are a complete beginner or already have some experience in kimono dressing, this session will make sure that you can dress yourself correctly and comfortably.
The second session will teach you how to tie an obi (帯) in a ginza musubi (銀座結び). Ginza musubi is a fun, easy but elegant obi arrangement to learn. We will also cover in detail how to tie obiage (帯揚げ) and obijime (帯締め) perfectly.
