  • PETITION DEMANDING ZERO DISCHARGE OF BISHOP LODGE’S PARTIALLY TREATED WASTEWATER  INTO LITTLE TESUQUE CREEK

I support the request to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to deny permission to Bishops Lodge to discharge their partially treated wastewater into Little Tesuque Creek. The request is made because EPA regulations are insufficient to cover the pollutants the Lodge wastewater may contain. For instance, neither carcinogenic PFAs chemicals or pharmaceuticals with unknown health effects are regulated by EPA. The Lodge’s disposal plan poses a threat to the quality of the water for private, business-related and tribal water wells between the Lodge and on into the Rio Grande Stream bank. Erosion is another critical issue. We must deal with naturally occurring occasional high flow rates but do not need additional erosion from man-made sources. Tesuque Creek is a lifeline to all beings who live in this area and beyond. This plan shows no concern for the people, animals, plants, or properties it impacts. The asking for care is an environmental process, also overlooked by the EPA and most regulatory agencies. The absence of care is a terribly destructive environmental and social toxin. It is extremely hurtful to us all. PROTECTTESUQUE.ORG FACEBOOK: TESUQUE ENVIRONMENTAL WATCH ALLIANCE
