  • Housing Independent Living Program Housing Stabilization Application

    Housing Stabilization funds are intended to support young adults ages 18-24 who are currently experiencing or have experienced foster care in Orange County with housing emergencies. Support is available on a case by case basis for the following areas of need: deposit assistance, rental assistance, utility assistance (excluding WiFi and cellular phone bills), furniture assistance, and groceries (excluding hygiene products).
  • Eligibilty Requirements:

    • Applicant must be 18-24 years old.
    • Must have had a dependency case in Orange County, CA. 
    • Must reside in Orange County, CA.
    • Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is NOT guaranteed.
    • Funding eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis and is intended for emergency housing stabilization purposes.
    • Applicants may receive assistance up to 3 times per fiscal year, while funding is available.
  • REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

  • Prior to starting the application please be sure you have ALL supporting documents ready to be uploaded.

    Documents REQUIRED:

    • Dependency Verification Letter (Required for ALL Requests)
      • Dependency Verification Letter can be requested from Orange County, CA Social Services Agency (714) 704-8000, ask to speak to the TPSP Officer of the Day.
    • For Deposit or Rental Assistance:
      • W-9 (can be obtained from your property manager/landlord)
      • Page 1 of Lease Agreement
      • Rental Invoice/Tenant Ledger showing YOUR name, address, and current amount due (can be obtained from your property manager/landlord)
      • **Please Note: Young adults receiving SILP or residing in transitional housing are NOT eligible for rental assistance.**
    • For Utility Assistance:
      • Most recent bill with YOUR name, address, and account # clearly visible
      • Page 1 of Lease Agreement
    • For Furniture Assistance: 1-time Lifetime assistance
      • List of items needed
      • Preferred Color: Brown, Grey, Black, White
      • Page 1 of Lease Agreement
    • For Grocery Assistance: Must be an emergency situation. 
      • List of items needed
      • If not an emergency, please utilize community resources such as:
        • Orangewood Pantry
        • The Dwelling Place
        • Food Banks and Churches
        • Local Nonprofits with Pantries
        • Additionally, if not enrolled, complete an application for CalFresh benefits at https://benefitscal.com/.
