Surf Life Saving School – Team members needed for Casual Work in Term 4.
SLSSNB is now looking for team members to help run our beach surf awareness programs. We offer a number of programs aimed at school children. Our programs run MONDAY to FRIDAY during school hours, during Term 4. Proficient (31/12/2024) Bronze Medallion and SRC Award holders are needed to help run these programs successfully. Our busiest period and when we need lots of staff is from 14 October 2024 to 18 December 2024. So if your school term finishes early December 2024, Uni is finished, or you have some spare time on your hands, there is plenty of work for you to earn some extra spending money leading up to Christmas.
In order to work for the Surf Life Saving School, you must be a current Active Financial Member of a Surf Club and must be proficient (31/12/2024) in either the Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate. The above must be reflected on Surfguard and a Surfguard check will be conducted.
Surf Recue Certificate Award holders, however, are not allowed to work on or supervise any wet/water activities. SRC holders can only work/supervise dry/beach activities.
All instructors meet their Team Leader and fellow instrutors at a nominated beach. As all of our programs are held at the beach. The beach can be found in the 'Notes" section on the deputy shift.
If you are friendly, outgoing, able to talk to large groups and enjoy working with children then this is a perfect job for you. Your job will be to lead groups of students through an array of activities ranging from board paddling to beach flags and lots of other fun beach activities.
Our rate of pay starts at $22 per hour for team members. Even if the program only lasts one hour, you will get paid for working three hours.
If you are 18 or over, you will need to have a paid Working With Children Number. If you don't currently have one, then you will need to apply for one. You will need to provide this before you can begin to work.
If you would like to be part of the Surf Life Saving School team, please fill in the attached form.
Once you complete and submit this form, and all relevant checks completed, you will be sent a Staff Manual which needs to be completed before you are sent an invitation to join Deputy and able to start working.
