Requirements :

Only Full-Time students will be considered for employment as Student Volunteer Firefighters by the Livingston Fire Department.
Abide by department policies and conduct themselves professionally at all times.
Maintain a 2.5 GPA
Obtain and maintain a (160) Volunteer Firefighter Certification from the Alabama Fire College or an approved equivalent (i.e. Firefighter I)
Enroll in and complete the EMT Basic course and obtain a license prior to year four
Attend, participate, and lead in service training sessions as necessary.
Perform firefighting and emergency medical response as described in the Livingston Fire Department Job Description
Follow directives of officers, supervisors, and firefighters of superior rank at the station and on the fire ground.

Compensation:

As full compensation for all services provided the Intern shall be paid a stipend of ($125.00 a month) for working ten (10) shifts a month. Such payments shall be subject to normal statutory deductions by the Livingston Fire Department.
Livingston Fire Department will provide a scholarship of one thousand ($1000.00) a semester to each student fire fighter enrolled.

Agreement:

I agree to abide by and comply with all laws of the State of Alabama and City of Livingston, as well as the rules, regulations, working conditions, and policies established by the Livingston Fire Department. I understand that I will be required to take a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and will have a 120 day probation period.

I understand that misrepresentation as to preexisting physical or mental conditions may void my workers' compensation benefits. I also understand that if I suffer on the job injury, I may be required to submit to a drug or alcohol test. Failure to submit to a test, or a positive result, may be reason for denial of workman's compensation.
