Grant Description:
The Jewish Abilities Atlanta (JAA) Accessibility Fund is designed to promote inclusivity and celebrate the uniqueness and abilities of every community member across the life span. This grant aims to support Jewish Atlanta in welcoming and including people with disabilities to synagogues, camps, schools, and other Jewish organizations.
Purpose:
The purpose of the JAA Accessibility Fund is to ensure that Jewish organizations in Atlanta have the necessary resources to create inclusive environments and programs. This grant helps lift the voices and perspectives of people with disabilities, ensuring their full participation in community life.
Eligibility:
- Funded programs or initiatives must serve the greater community or a group of community members.
- Funds cannot cover staffing expenses.
- Funds cannot retroactively fund projects or cover the cost of already-implemented programs or initiatives
- All funded programs/initiatives must be driven by a community agency. JAA is available to assist in developing partnerships around projects.
Required project follow-up:
- A 1-3 minute video of the completed project or initiative (or photos, if video is not possible).
- A meeting or site visit with JAA to demonstrate the program or initiative in action.
- Completion of a brief post-project survey and a story or quotes about the impact of the project.
Funding Priorities:
The grant will prioritize projects that:
- Improve physical accessibility in community spaces
- Develop or enhance programs that support individuals with disabilities
- Implement assistive technologies and communication tools for better engagement
- Provide funding for reasonable accommodations such as ASL interpreters, CART captioning, and other support services
- Enhance social media and web accessibility to ensure digital inclusion
- Foster inclusive practices and policies within the organization
