Call for Submissions: Drag Workshops for Queer Youth
This program will be a two-month professional development series of drag skill-building workshops including wearable art, makeup, and performance taking place weekly in September and October for 8 gender-diverse youth participants (18-29 years old) living in Toronto who are also members of diasporas. Youth will get the opportunity to build a gender-affirming look from scratch and build a 10 minute performance guided by drag performers Camilo el Salsero and El Experimento. The workshops will be hosted at Deer Park Toronto Public Library Community Meeting Room on Thursdays from 5-7 pm September-October. Each participant will receive their own sewing machine and a budget to purchase the materials needed to create their final works. Priority will be given to aspiring drag kings and gender diverse drag performers. Deadline to apply is August 15th.
